Instructions for Using Athena
Directions for using Athena (each number
represents a new screen)
1. In the white space on the Athena screen
enter a title, author, or subject and click the appropriate search icon on the
right.

If entering a subject, you may want to try
additional key words as well.
Click on an item for a more complete
description. The symbol to the left of the title indicates the type of
material.

= realia (items that do not fit on a shelf, such as CDs , cassette
tapes, instant lessons, flash cards, photographs, etc.)

= book
-
= video/dvd
-
= reference
-
= CD-rom

Advanced search allows you to search the
collections of each institution and also to specify the type of format. To find a particular type of material at a
specific site, enter a title, author, word or phrase in the white area. Then in the format
box, click on the first two letters of the site, followed by the format
abbreviation. For example, to find videos at the Koopman Library, click on
CKAV.
- CK = Koopman Library

- SS = Solomon Schechter Day School
- AV = video/dvd
- BK = book
- PROF= professional/pedagogical
- REF = reference
- CD = computer software (does not circulate)
- AUDBK = audiobook
- RL = realia

the status and location of the item
